Wow! I just wanted to take a moment to let teachers (and all you philanthropists out there) know about an incredible organization I recently came across thanks to a couple wonderful colleagues of mine.
DonorsChoose.org is a non-profit organization that allows people to donate directly to specific projects at public schools across America. Teachers simply upload information about their inspiring future projects, and those looking to help a worthy cause are able to donate to the specific projects that ignite a spark in them. In return, donors get photos of the project taking place, a letter from the teacher, and information about how the money for the project was spent. Those donating over $50 will receive hand-written notes from the students with thanks.
Here is a link to my first project through DonorsChoose.org called ‘Fluency Fun in First Grade’.
I am looking for funding to obtain three readers’ theater kits including high-interest, appropriately leveled scripts of various genres to help my students improve their fluency while reading. Please feel free to pass the word! 🙂
Teachers, if you have any questions about how to apply for a project, please let me know! I found the process to be easy and straightforward. The staff members who reviewed my project were efficient and friendly as well.
Thanks so much!
